Craig Heffernan, member of the educational committee, graduated with a BSc in Economics with Employment Experience from the University of Sheffield (UK) in 2017, having completed an integrated placement with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) in the UK Civil Service. Upon graduation, he rejoined the Civil Service, working at the Department of Health and Social Care and the UK Medicines Regulator. In 2021, Craig joined the Department for Transport as an Economic Advisor in the Aviation Division, focusing on aviation demand and emissions forecasting, as well as aviation decarbonisation policy assessment. Craig joined the Spatial and Applied Economics programme to gain a broader understanding of environmental and transport economics, which he hopes will support his continued development as a transport economist.
